It’s Open Link Night at dversepoets pub. Come read some great poetry!
In December, 2016, “A Seasoning of Lust” was published on Amazon.com. It is now in its second edition. Nick Nicholson, a long time friend in Australia, did the heavy labor on this book, bringing a new cover and together we rewrote some of the poems. Nick also lent some of his marvelous photographs taken on his recent world tours to illustrate some of the poems and all of the short stories.
It was my first book, published in 2009 by Lulu.com, but most first books can be redone. I am very pleased with the new book, and am very grateful to my dear friend, Nick, for his keen advice and his patience. There is an emphasis on literary erotica inside this book, with poems, flashers, prose, and concluding with three not- so- short stories.

A piece of erotica to get the blood moving this cold January morn….

To The New Lover, # 1
–
Fingers flit over cheeks
rubbed raw during the night
by ardent kisses and the
rough beard of a man in rut.
An early morning’s light
peeks through drapes drawn
for modesty’s sake
shielding the
sweet debauchery
of the night before.
She feels his hands move to her breasts
and nipples greet their caress,
arising to a new and different
touch, demanding notice.
His dark head moves to kiss her mouth now
dry, her lips bruised with their late passion,
he filled again with early need.
She feels him push at her thigh.
Eyes barely open, he now knows
the terrain, and with a growl, rolls on top,
spreading the sweet apex of her thighs, a hand
in the warm darkness there, waiting.
She stretches, remembering the sweet movements
of the night, a savage pas de deux.
An ardent moan escapes her throat.
This morning, he is gentle, she is sore,
almost virginal, challenged by the heat
of the night
and with gentle touches, he commands
her arousal,
and calls her out to dance again.

Thank you, Brian. Since I published this book in mid December…I’ve only introduced it once on my blog….it needs more than that to pique the interest of any buyer. I am slow at that stuff. I appreciate you reading and your comment. you, probably will be one of the few to read this. LOL! Later, I’m going to send you an email….

Splendid… so hard to write to erotica. This was so filled with lust and passion and on the right side of decency (at least for me)… i have tried writing erotica a few times but find it difficult to move beyond hints and metaphors.

LOL! I’m not laughing at you, Bjorn…but at this issue of erotica writing. I spent almost 4 years at a writing site…ERWA (Erotica Readers and Writers Ass.) and EVERYTHING…and I mean Everything…had to have large leavening of erotica. Sometimes I couldn’t tell the different between erotica and porn in what I was reading there. I left…and my first book out of the cage was: “A SEASONING of Lust”…not the whole damn meal. I remember Anais Nin writing about this issue of erotica. It was like some dirty old man behind a curtain yelling…More Porn! More Porn! That would turn the stomach of any real writer…I try to strive for Literary Erotica….the erotica is in the story but doesn’t stand out like a …..well, you know what I am saying. LOL! I have a continuation of this poem I will post (To the New Lover, #2) next Open Link. I don’t know the secret to writing erotica well, but it has to have nuance and

Perhaps starting with hints and metaphors is really the true beginning of gentle erotica?

I am impressed with this. For me, the “heat’ is in the subtlety, the undercurrent that is inspired and felt, rather than the bluntness of language that some think necessary in such writing. Descriptions right on point–beard burn, lips tender (I remember!). And so the “dance” begins again. Tastefully done, enjoyed reading this

great use of pacing to structure the images in a back and forth way reflecting the subjects, and I second Bjorn – it has the right level of drama, suggestion and tension without the forceful crassness so often in seen in erotica writes
nice

Thank you, OT. I had to fish your comment out of the trash….must be those erotica hating Puritans ahold of my computer again. I learn so much more about what I have written from comments, readers, than I ever knew when I was writing theses things. Thank you so much for reading, but also…your insightful comment.

Hi Grace…first, thank you for reading and your comment. And yes….it’s very easy to get away from erotica. It needs to be tapped on occasion. Hope to read some of yours soon! I don’t write it much anymore….had 4 years of it…but it’s a legitimate literary form.
