“Envy”….new poem.

crescent-moon

The Moon looks about

Shifting the tides

While I,

Earthbound

Heavy with gravity

Whose mortal framework

Denies celestial frolic

Trods a well-worn path,

Fulfills a dull duty

And looks with envy, longing

At the Universe above

With a jaundiced eye.

Perhaps the Moon is bored with moving the tides and waxing and waning…

There is a body celestial that we inhabit too where gravity has no hold. It’s there in your writing and painting.

Do not envy the moon, it is airless and rather dusty. Better to admire its face and smile from afar!

    A lovely thoughtful poem 🙂

Thanks, Nick…it was rather off the cuff. A short little thing but fit the mood. Xox
