To the East….
Paul Scribbles over at Poetics — dversepoets.com. What does ‘grace’ mean to you? I can think of numerous things, but chose this poem below.
Lady Nyo
A DISH OF SKYLARKS
–
A dish of skylarks
Fell from the blue
into my lap,
And I, ravenous with
A multitude of hungers-
Ate them.
Between burps
one did escape,
shook himself,
Bowed,
And offered a feather.
I thought it gracious
Considering what I had done
To his neighbors.
—
The grace of life
Elegant, sublime, stirring
Come into my soul.

What lovely poem Jane. It sounds almost Dickinson-ian in its tone. Full of grace.

That’s a very nice tale and includes forgiveness at least from the skylark’s perspective. The one eating may now have a problem with self-forgiveness.

The contrast between the single feather and that carnivore theme of eating skylarks is splendid… grace need darkness to be seen

Thanks, Paul. I’ll be over later. Having problems with wind, cold and electricity!

Yep, I think you are right, Bjorn. Grace needs darkness to be seen. Never thought about it like that an I have struggled with the issue of ‘grace’ because I don’t follow religion. But grace is so much broader than that. Thanks, Bjorn. Having intermittent problems with power because of the cold and wind. Be over later.
